Case of Na’Ziyah Harris’ Disappearance

Na’Ziyah Harris was last spotted in January 2024 after leaving a school bus in Detroit. Prosecutors mentioned that proof suggested she met Butts on the same day she disappeared. Investigators reported that Butts had been grooming the teenager since 2022 and maintained personal contact with her family. At the time of the incident, Harris was pregnant, and prosecutors claimed Butts was believed to be the father.

Plea Agreement and Search for Closure

As part of the plea deal, Butts was required to provide details regarding the place of Na’Ziyah Harris’ remains. Prosecutors highlighted that this condition was made to offer some form of closure to the grieving family.

“One of the most important aspects of the plea agreement was giving Na’Ziyah’s family some semblance of closure. The disclosure of the location of her body was crucial,” stated prosecutor Kym Worthy. However, with Butts currently deceased, uncertainty continues over whether that critical details will ever be disclosed.
