According to the Sheriff's Department, the search was carried out along the westbound shoulder of the 60 Freeway near Gilman Springs Road in Moreno Valley. Cadaver dogs assisted search and rescue crews. Jake Haro, father of the missing infant, was also at the location with detectives.
Parents Jake and Rebecca Haro, who first reported the child missing, were arrested on suspicion of murder on Friday, August 22, morning at their residence in Cabazon, located about 90 miles east of Los Angeles.
Authorities said Emmanuel was not found at the location, and the search continues.
Emmanuel Haro: The backstory
Emmanuel Haro was first reported missing on Thursday, August 14. Before her arrest, Rebecca Haro claimed she was attacked while changing her baby's diaper in the Big Five Sporting Goods store parking lot in Yucaipa. She then claimed someone had knocked her down to the ground. Once she got back up, her baby was gone, she said, before she and Jake Haro both got arrested.
During the investigation, previous cases of child abuse emerged against Jake Haro, and he obtained legal representation even before the police arrested him.
