It's official! Hot in Cleveland star Valerie Bertinelli is 'Happily Divorced' from Tom Vitale

American actor Valerie Bertinelli announced on Tuesday that she was officially divorced from Tom Vitale. The 62-year-old actor tweeted a video stating that she was at an airport on her way to see her son Wolfgang Van Halen when her lawyer called and informed her that the divorce papers were signed and ready to be filed.

Valerie and Tom started seeing each other in 2004, three years after she separated from her ex-husband Eddie Van Halen. The couple got married in January 2011 and stayed together until November 2021, when Valerie filed for legal separation. The video confirming the divorce had “happily divorced” written on it, while she wrote in the caption that it was the second-best day of her life.

The ‘Hollywood Walk of Fame’ star had filed for divorce at the Los Angeles Superior Court on May 12. She mentioned in the filing that the reason for the divorce with Tom was irreconcilable differences between the two. Media reports suggest that though they officially separated last year, they broke up way back in December 2019.


Valerie was recently in the news after actor Mathew Perry, her co-star from the 1990 sitcom ‘Sydney’, revealed in his memoir that he had a make-out session with the actor. The ‘Friends’ actor claimed in ‘Friends’, ‘Lovers’ and the ‘Big Terrible Thing: A Memoir’ that Valerie was married to rock musician Eddie Van Halen when the incident happened. Valerie responded via video, with Taylor Swift’s ‘Anti-Hero’ playing in the background and the lines “anyone misbehaves in their 20’s and 30’s? Are you mortified?” written all over it.
