Camp Mystic's all-white, no Asian, no Black: Sade Perkins, former Houston mayoral appointee, posts rage-filled video on Texas floods coverage, missing girls

Racial hatred reared its head in Texas flash floods with a former Houston mayoral appointee lamenting that Camp Mystic tragedy, where 27 girls and counselors were killed, was highlighted as it was "white-only" and "Christian". Hours after heavy rains and flash floods ripped though larget swathes of Texas Sade Perkins, a former Houston mayoral appointee, posted a video on her TikTok account, raging over the coverage about the tragedy.

“I know I’m going to get cancelled for this, but Camp Mystic is a white-only girls’ Christian camp. They don’t even have a token Asian. They don’t have a token Black person. It’s an all-white, white-only conservative Christian camp. If you ain’t white you ain’t right, you ain’t gettin’ in, you ain’t goin’. Period,” Sade Perkins said in the video about the girls-only Camp Mystic.

While blaming the media coverage of the tragedy, Perkins alleged that the spotlight on the floods would have been a lot dimmer if the victims were non-whites or from others races. “If this were a group of Hispanic girls out there, this would not be getting this type of coverage that they’re getting, no one would give a f**k, and all these white people, the parents of these little girls would be saying things like ‘they need to be deported, they shouldn’t have been here in the first place’ and yada yada yada,”


She was the Houston Food Insecurity Board member from 2023 till January 2025. Her appointment was made by former Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner.

But her racial comments have resulted in the current Houston Mayor, John Whitmire, stating he will not reappoint her, especially as after her "deeply inappropriate comments".

Even as her first post was called out and she started receiving hate comments, Perkins put out another video on TikTok. She brought out the crackdown on illegal immigrants by the Trump administration into the dicussion.

"I get that white people are not used to people telling them and calling them out on their racism and telling them about their double standards and how you wouldn’t give a damn about other children and how there’s children in ICE detention right now who y’all don’t give two f**ks about. “There’s no prayers going up for them, but we’re supposed to stop the world and stop everything we’re doing to go and hunt for these little missing white girls." she continued with her racist tirade.

She then commented that rescuers should find the missing campers.

The death toll in Texas floods has reached 80 with 11 of the victims being from Camp Mystic. Five girls and a counselor from the camp are still missing.

What is Camp Mystic?

The website of Camp Mystic states it is a private Christian summer camp for girls. Established 100 years ago in 1926, Camp Mystic is nestled among cypress, live oak, and pecan trees in the hill country of west-central Texas on the banks of the beautiful Guadalupe River.

Mystic is located near the geographical center of Texas, 18 miles northwest of Kerrville. The staff at Mystic strives to provide young girls with a wholesome Christian atmosphere in which they can develop outstanding personal qualities and self-esteem.
