The suspect, her 52-year-old former boyfriend, Gianluca Soncin, allegedly attacked her during a heated argument on the terrace of her apartment in the Gorla neighborhood, northern Milan.
Neighbors alerted authorities after hearing Genini’s screams and cries for help. Police forced entry into the apartment as Soncin ended the assault and reportedly attempted suicide by stabbing himself twice in the throat.
He was stabilized and hospitalized at Milan’s Niguarda Hospital under police custody and has been charged with aggravated homicide, stalking, premeditation, and femicide — the murder of a woman motivated by gender-based violence, a severe crime under Italian law.
According to police and eyewitness accounts, Soncin had recently duplicated keys to Genini's apartment despite their estranged relationship. Genini had called a former boyfriend for help moments before the attack, and police had tried to contact her via intercom with no success.
The couple’s relationship, lasting about a year, was reportedly marked by frequent arguments and violence, with Genini planning to end the relationship.
Pamela Genini first gained prominence as a contestant on the Italian reality dating show “The Island of Adam and Eve,” which featured participants living nude, and she later co-founded the luxury swimwear brand SheLux. She also ran a luxury real estate consulting business with offices in Milan and frequently shared her cosmopolitan lifestyle on social media.
Gianluca Soncin, a wealthy entrepreneur with a prior criminal record including a 2010 financial crime probe, remains hospitalized but under arrest. Italian police continue to investigate, reviewing surveillance footage and interviewing neighbors to fully reconstruct events.
This tragic incident has sparked outrage and renewed attention toward the issue of domestic violence and femicide in Italy, highlighting the urgent need for societal and legal measures to protect women from such violence.
