Italian Archaeologists excavate statues from lost bath house in Tuscany
Archaeologists digging a hilltop in Tuscany, Italy, have discovered two dozen bronze statues immersed in hot springs in Tuscany.

The area from where this discovery was made is San Casciano in dei Bagni, part of the Siena province, a picturesque hilltop town. Located around 100 miles north of Rome, archaeologists have been digging around this area in 2019, which used to have an ancient bathhouse. Now a muddy ruin, the statues were immersed in the hot springs' medicinal waters.
A professor at the University of Foreigners in Siena, Jacopo Tabolli, is sure this discovery has a lot of importance and can rewrite history. The relationship of the Romans with the Etruscans could be rewritten; perhaps this discovery would instigate that.
The period was a rather violent time in ancient Rome. The period between 2 BC and 1 AD is the time when Rome spread its empire far and wide, and what was the Etruscan area was conquered and made a part of Rome. The statues are of Greco-Roman gods and goddesses like Hygieia and Apollo, and they used to be part of a temple earlier and later were immersed in water. Perhaps this ritual was followed around the 1st century AD, and they have been discovered in that state.
The statues belong to that period when the Romans took over the area from the Etruscans, according to the Ministry of Culture. The period defines a violent era where the superior culture of Rome permeated and washed away the weaker Etruscan culture.
