The disruption created widespread difficulties for gamers. Many were unable to connect to PSN servers, which meant online multiplayer modes across popular games were rendered unplayable. Social features such as friends lists, messaging, and party chat were also disrupted, cutting off communication between players during the outage.
The spike in user-reported issues began around 6:20 PM Eastern Time. On social media, numerous frustrated gamers tagged Sony’s official support Twitter handle to report their plight. As of the latest updates, PlayStation hasn't addressed the issue on any official channel.
According to DownForEveryoneOrJustMe.com, the outage appears to have been resolved, with service interruptions spanning approximately one hour. No further anomalies have been reported following that period
This outage joins a pattern of periodic disruptions for the PlayStation Network. A prominent example is the global PSN outage in February 2025, which lasted nearly 24 hours, marking one of the longest recent interruptions.
Looking further back, the widely remembered 2011 PSN outage, caused by a cyberattack, left services offline for 23 days and exposed sensitive data from around 77 million user accounts. Sony eventually offered compensation and free PlayStation Plus membership in the aftermath.
