Mission Impossible remains a highly successful franchise with fans worldwide going ga-ga over Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise's character Ethan Hunt.

Even critics have given a thumbs up to the action movies in the franchise. No there were rumors that Tom Cruise would say goodbye to the franchise. The next movie in the series is a two-part thriller called Dead Reckoning Part 1 and Part 2. The last two movies would give Cruise a grand farewell, as per the rumors

As fans speculate about Tom's exit, the director of the Mission Impossible movies, Christopher McQuarrie, has shed light on the truth. According to the director, the whole rumor is entirely false. McQuarrie also revealed that in the 15 years since he has been working with Cruise, he had read rumors about the actor that turned out to be untrue. He added that after reading about the rumors, he called the actor, saying that he read an article and the weird thing about it was that it was 100% wrong.

The director thus asked fans to believe such rumors false whenever they read about them in publications.

McQuarrie also gave an instance when an article in a publication fabricated lies about the actor and the crew. He said that the crew was shooting in Birmingham when the papers described an event that happened with them. According to the article, Tom Cruise and four other crew members went out to dinner in an Indian restaurant in Birmingham.

Cruise asked the management to sit in the common dining area at the restaurant. He seemingly also ordered three servings of chicken masala because he loved it. Quashing the whole incident, McQuarrie said it was utterly fictional without any grain of truth.
