A palace source told Page Six that Prince Harry could eventually have his royal title removed in the same way King Charles recently stripped his brother, ex-Prince Andrew, of his princely honours, a possibility now in the spotlight as lawmakers press for new rules allowing titles to be taken away. He is now named Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.

“If they pass these bills, I would not be surprised if Harry is the next one to go,” the source said, adding, “I would not be surprised if William does that … he’s not a vindictive person, but he feels very let down and it’s always much more difficult when you are let down by somebody close to you.”

Their caution for Harry, 41, comes amid British MP Rachael Maskell’s renewed push for the “Removal of Titles Bill,” a proposal that would empower King Charles, and in time, his successor Prince William, to strip individuals of hereditary titles.

“If they pass these bills, I would not be surprised if Harry is the next one to go,” one well-placed royal source told Page Six. “I would not be surprised if William does that … he’s not a vindictive person, but he feels very let down and it’s always much more difficult when you are let down by somebody close to you.”

The brothers haven’t spoken in over two years, and insiders close to William, 43, say he was deeply angered by Harry’s 2023 memoir Spare.

Harry’s memoir Spare contained a series of explosive claims, alleging that the future king once physically attacked him and that Kate Middleton was among the senior royals who made allegedly “racist” remarks about his and Meghan Markle’s children.

Royal historian Hugo Vickers has since remarked that the brothers’ estrangement is so deep that William might not even invite Harry to his coronation, while a palace insider added that “Harry must be quite scared” in light of MP Rachael Maskell’s revived “Removal of Titles Bill.”

The proposal was initially rejected when Maskell introduced it in 2022, but it has resurfaced in the wake of the latest developments surrounding Prince Andrew.

Harry, the son of King Charles and the late Princess Diana, was born a prince, and his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, bestowed upon him and Meghan Markle the titles of Duke and Duchess of Sussex on their wedding day in May 2018.

However, when the couple stepped back from royal duties in 2020, they agreed not to use their “His and Her Royal Highness” titles for commercial purposes.

In a dramatic turn, King Charles stripped his younger brother, Prince Andrew, of his princely title last week following several days of discreet coordination between palace officials, lawyers, and government advisers.

The move was formalized through royal warrants issued by the King to the Lord Chancellor, David Lammy, instructing the removal of Andrew’s titles from the official Peerage Roll.
