Poland was reportedly put on high alert overnight after Russian drones' new wave of attacks on Ukraine's western parts, bordering Poland. Authorities said that emergency measures were put in place, as quoted in a report by RBC Ukraine.

What made Poland rush to defend itself?

Ukraine's air force had earlier stated that Russian drones had entered Poland's airspace, threatening the city of Zamosc, but it has since taken the report down from the Telegram messaging app, reported Reuters.

Following a warning by Ukraine's air force that Russian drones had entered the airspace of NATO member Poland, Polish and allied aircraft were activated early on Wednesday to ensure the safety of Poland's airspace.

"Polish and allied aircraft are operating in our airspace, while ground-based air defence and radar reconnaissance systems have been brought to the highest state of readiness," Poland's operational command stated in a post on X, reported Reuters.

Russia carried out another round of heavy strikes on targets in Ukraine on the evening of September 9–10, 2025, according to Poland’s Air Command statement earlier today. The Commander of the Polish Armed Forces' Operational Command initiated all required procedures to guarantee the security of Polish airspace.
