Just weeks after tying the knot in a star-studded wedding in Venice, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is reportedly pushing for his new wife, Lauren Sánchez, to land a role in the upcoming James Bond reboot, despite her minimal acting experience.

Bezos recently acquired MGM Studios in 2022 as part of an $8.5 billion deal and now has influence and control over the direction of the studio’s major franchise, including James Bond.

Bezos’ acquisition of MGM brought a vast library of classic titles under Amazon’s umbrella, including franchises like James Bond, Rocky, and The Handmaid’s Tale.


While Amazon executives have previously stated they respect the legacy of Bond and intend to preserve its cinematic tradition, Bezos's direct involvement in creative decisions is now coming under increased scrutiny.

Multiple sources and reports have said that Bezos has expressed interest in positioning Sánchez for a role in Bond 26. “He’s obsessed,” one Hollywood insider said. “This isn’t just fantasy casting, Jeff wants her on screen, period.”

Who is Lauren Sánchez

Lauren Wendy Sánchez Bezos is an American philanthropist, licensed pilot, and former broadcast journalist. She rose to prominence as a co-host of Good Day LA, anchor for Fox 11 News at Ten, and special correspondent for Extra, while also making frequent guest appearances on national talk shows.

She founded Black Ops Aviation in 2016, an aerial film production company, combining her media experience with her skills as a helicopter pilot.

Her 2024 children's book, The Fly Who Flew to Space, became a New York Times bestseller, and in 2025, she flew aboard Blue Origin NS-31, becoming one of the first female journalists in space. Sánchez serves as vice-chair of the Bezos Earth Fund, contributing to major environmental and climate-focused initiatives.

The next chapter in the Bond franchise, titled Bond 26, is slated to be directed by acclaimed filmmaker Denis Villeneuve (Dune, Sicario) and written by Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders, Eastern Promises).

With Daniel Craig stepping away from the role after No Time to Die (2021), the search for the next 007 remains a central focus.

Bezos himself has weighed in on the debate, posting on X in February, “Who’d you pick as the next Bond?”

Casting speculation

Actors including Henry Cavill, Régé-Jean Page, Jamie Dornan, and Theo James have all emerged as fan favorites to succeed Craig. However, the possibility of Sánchez taking any significant role has sparked concerns among some longtime fans of the franchise, with critics worried that creative decisions could be driven more by personal influence than storytelling.
