Is Iron Man back in Marvel’s “Iron heart”? Trailer, release date & what to expect

Marvel Studios released the “Ironheart” trailer on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, teasing a first look at Riri Williams’ journey as Ironheart on Disney+.

The series will premiere on June 24, 2025, with the first three of its six episodes released simultaneously, offering viewers an immersive launch into this new chapter of the MCU.

Created by Chinaka Hodge and executive produced by Marvel veterans, including Kevin Feige and Ryan Coogler, Ironheart picks up after Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’s events and follows MIT prodigy Riri as she returns to Chicago to pit technology against magic.

Marvel is back with a Tony Stark legacy

Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne) rekindles the Iron Man ethos while forging her path. Dominique Thorne, who debuted as Riri in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, returns to bring depth to the character’s homecoming, navigating a world that sees her as both a genius and an outsider.

At the series’ heart is Chicago’s Humboldt Park, where Riri grapples with family ties, particularly her mother, played by Anji White, and the pull of ambition. Executive producer Ryan Coogler highlights why Riri matters: “Ironheart is such a great character in publishing,” he said.

The three-episode premiere on June 24 ensures viewers can binge the start of Riri’s arc, only to pick up the remaining episodes weekly.

The trailer teases high-stakes clashes with Parker Robbins, aka The Hood (Anthony Ramos), who wields stolen magical relics against Riri’s tech prowess. Viewers will also glimpse Riri back at MIT, contending with demanding professors and a campus full of skeptics.

Expect emotional beats grounded in Riri’s relationships, her friendship with Natalie (Lyric Ross), her bond with cousin John (Manny Montana), and the moral weight of inventing weapons in the name of good.

Tony Stark is making a comeback?

Though Tony Stark himself won’t appear, his shadow looms large.

Riri Williams was introduced in 2016’s Invincible Iron Man #7 by Brian Michael Bendis and Mike Deodato, created to inherit Stark’s mantle with a fresh perspective.

In the series, Riri’s DIY iron suits rival Stark’s originals, reflecting her Chicago roots and MIT smarts.
