Tesla's shareholder and Gerber Kawasaki Wealth & Investment Management CEO Ross Gerber has voiced out concerns regarding the company's future under Tesla CEO Elon Musk's leadership.

During an interview with Bloomberg Technology, Gerber said, “It’s clear that he just doesn’t care,” quoted Benzinga. He went on to say, “His next move is X AI... So if you have any confusion that he’s coming back to Tesla, he’s not,” as quoted in the report.

Tesla’s Stock Tumbles as Elon Musk Juggles Multiple Roles

Tesla stock has been hammered this year, with its value falling 33% to date, as per Benzinga. According to Gerber, the EV maker’s stock performance is down because of Musk’s role outside the company and reduced involvement with the company, as per Benzinga.


While the EV maker is still leading in the US EV market, as per data from Cox Automotive, however, sales have dropped 8.6% year over year in the first quarter of 2025, while the market as a whole grew 11.4%, reported Benzinga.

Retail Investor Backlash

Gerber also had to defend his criticism after a backlash from Tesla's retail investors, as per the report. He explained that, “I understand why retail investors at Tesla are frustrated with me for voicing my views,” adding that Tesla is “getting attacked because of Elon’s behavior,” as quoted in the report.

However, he still maintains Tesla holdings for clients. He pointed out that, “We still own Tesla because I do think something fixes itself at some point, and they have the best products,” quoted Benzinga.
