Recent Fox News polls suggest that Vice President Kamala Harris is gaining ground in key Sun Belt states against former President Donald Trump. Released on Wednesday evening, these polls indicate Harris leading Trump in three out of four critical states: Arizona, Georgia, and Nevada.

Polling results

As per the reports of Yahoo news, across the surveyed states of Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, and North Carolina, Harris holds a narrow overall lead over Trump. She garners 48 percent support compared to Trump's 47 percent. Harris edges out Trump by 1 point in Arizona and leads by 2 points in both Georgia and Nevada. However, Trump maintains a slight 1-point advantage in North Carolina, with 48 percent to Harris's 47 percent. These results fall within the margins of sampling error, highlighting the tight competition in these battleground states.

Shift in voter preferences

The polling reflects a significant shift in voter preferences since President Joe Biden stepped aside, allowing Harris to become the Democratic nominee. Previous Fox News surveys had shown Biden trailing Trump in all four states.

Harris's current performance marks substantial gains compared to Biden's earlier standings. In Arizona, she improved by 6 points over Biden's 5-point deficit in a June 2024 poll. In Georgia, she gained 8 points, surpassing Biden’s 6-point lag from an April 2024 poll. Similarly, Harris's support in Nevada rose by 7 points from Biden’s 5-point deficit in June. In North Carolina, despite Trump’s lead, Harris closed the gap by 4 points from Biden's 5-point deficit in February 2024.

Ever since assuming the lead on the Democratic ticket, Harris has been riding high on a wave of excitement. The Democratic Party is hoping that this momentum, particularly in these crucial states, will last throughout the election.
