iPhone 17 set to break records, and your wallet, in shocking US price hike
Analysts predict the iPhone 17 lineup may see price increases in the US, driven by tariffs and potential hardware upgrades. While the base iPhone 17 might remain at $799, the new iPhone 17 Air and Pro models could see a $50 price hike. These incre...

Why are U.S. prices for the iPhone 17 expected to rise?
Since US President Donald Trump's new tariffs could have a variety of effects on Apple's products, we have been talking about possible price increases for the iPhone 17 for months.
President Trump's new 100% tariffs on semiconductors won't affect the chips used in the iPhone 17 models because of Apple's recently announced American Manufacturing Program initiative and an additional $100 billion commitment to the American economy, as per a report by BGR.
Other tariffs will apply to Apple products, though. After projecting a $900 billion tax hit for the June quarter, the iPhone manufacturer anticipates paying $1.1 billion in tariffs in the September quarter. Customers are not the only ones concerned about price tag adjustments for the iPhone 17 series.
Analysts predict that American consumers will pay more for the 2025 iPhones. In a recent research note, Jeff Pu, an analyst at GF Securities, claims that the iPhone 17 models will cost more in the United States than their iPhone 16 equivalents, according to MacRumors.
Although Pu made no mention of price hikes for the four iPhones that are anticipated to be included in the iPhone 17 series, his expectations are consistent with other recent forecasts regarding the iPhone 17's pricing.
Edison Lee, an analyst at Jefferies, made price projections for the iPhone 17 series a few days ago, indicating that only a few models would experience price increases in September, as per a report by BGR.
How much might each iPhone 17 model cost?
Not all models will see price increases. According to GF Securities analyst Jeff Pu and Jefferies analyst Edison Lee, the standard iPhone 17 could remain priced at $799. However, alternative models may emerge. The iPhone 17 Pro's price could rise from $999 to $1,049 unless Apple decides to remove the 128GB option entirely. In that case, the entry-level Pro would start at 256GB for $1,099, matching the price of the 256GB iPhone 16 Pro while raising the entry price for buyers.
The iPhone 17 Pro Max may start at $1,199, but exclusive upgrades such as more RAM, improved cameras, a larger battery, faster charging, and a smaller Dynamic Island could justify a $50 price increase to $1,249, as per a report by BGR.

What features could justify the higher price?
Apple is rumored to be packing a lot of features into the iPhone 17 family to compensate for the higher price point. The iPhone 17 Air's premium features may blur the distinction between standard and Pro models. The Pro and Pro Max variants may see significant hardware upgrades, making them even more appealing to tech enthusiasts.
Apple's history indicates that it is willing to adjust costs when delivering significant upgrades. That means buyers may be paying for more than just the brand, such as cutting-edge design and performance.
