iOS 26 launched today - Here's when you can get the next major iPhone update

Apple is set to officially launch iOS 26, its most major operating software update in recent years, on today, September 15, after the iPhone 17 series introduction last week at its 'Awe Dropping' event. The update brings up a refined user interface (UI), new AI-powered abilities like advanced Siri integration with ChatGPT and various other tweaks.

The significant change has been the launch of a fresh UI language, dubbed 'Liquid Glass', which Apple states will introduce an expressive design to the lock screen, home screen, control centre, applications and more. The latest UI language expands to the smallest factors that users engage with, from buttons, switches, sliders, and text to tab bars and side menus for navigating apps.

Artificial Intelligence has been extended under the label of “Apple Intelligence”. From offering live translation in texts to captions in FaceTime calls, the integration of AI is anticipated to be a game-changer.


Another feature that's great for privacy is call and message filtering. As per Apple, texts from unknown users will appear in a different folder where users can then mark the number as known, ask for more data , or remove.

iOS 26 was initially revealed at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2025 in California in June. After that, users have been testing the OS via the developer beta update and providing feedback with the developers.
