Inmates turn on Ghislaine Maxwell amid claims she skips lines and breaks prison rules
Ghislaine Maxwell, the convicted socialite connected to Jeffrey Epstein’s criminal network, has remained a focus of public scrutiny during her prison sentence. Former inmates and staff have shared accounts of her behavior behind bars, explaining concerns regarding her hygiene habits, and attempts to assert control over religious and educational activities.. These accounts disclose a complex picture of her prison life, focusing on both the privileges she received and the tensions she caused.

A former inmate who served time along with Ghislaine Maxwell has explained the convicted socialite as “very nasty” and “f*g hated” by prison staff. Raven Johnson, a pseudonym adopted by the former inmate, was held for two years at the Federal Correctional Institution in Tallahassee, Florida, from November 2023 to November 2025. Johnson states that Maxwell frequently skipped cafeteria lines, seldom used showers, and requested special privileges during religious observances.

Conflicts and Complaints

As per Johnson, Maxwell would become enraged when other inmates watched the Starz miniseries “Who is Ghislaine Maxwell?” on television and often argued with staff regarding minor concerns. While fellow prisoners labeled her “trash” because of her sex offender status, Maxwell also taught a 12-week etiquette class and guided inmates to file legal motions.

Johnson explained Maxwell as arrogant yet reserved, dismissing any citation of Epstein or the royal family, and downplaying claims regarding hazardous situations in prison. “This lady, her sense of entitlement was just ridiculous,” Johnson stated. “Prison staff — they f*g hated her. She filed over 800 complaints in one year.”

Daily Routine and Hygiene

The ex-inmate stated that Maxwell was notorious for complaining about everything ranging from meal portions to shower facilities. “She could file a complaint, and things are going to change,” Johnson cited. Maxwell allegedly refused to wait in line for meals like other prisoners. “There could be 50 or 60 people standing in the chow hall line. She’s walked past me several times,” Johnson stated. “People just look at her like, ‘Oh, whatever. It’s Maxwell.’”

Her hygiene habits also became a frequent topic of discussion.. “This lady worked out every day, but rarely showered,” Johnson cited, that her smell stood out even in the generally unsanitary prison surroundings.

Religious Observances

Maxwell’s participation in religious practices reportedly created additional disagreements. As head orderly in the chapel, Johnson witnessed Maxwell attempting to handle simple rituals. When Maxwell asked to pour her own ceremonial grape juice during Jewish services, Johnson reportedly responded:“You’re not coming into this kitchen. You don’t work here. I don’t care who you are. You don’t shower. So I highly doubt that you’re going to wash your hands. You’re not coming in here.”

Social Standing and Relationships

Maxwell’s conviction placed her near the lowest-ranked prisoners. “People don’t look at you as if you’re actually even human,” Johnson stated. “You’re less than. If you have crimes against children, you’re shit. It doesn’t matter how much money you have or who you are in the real world, people aren’t going to respect you.”

Her social circle in prison was restricted to other high-profile offenders, which includes a convicted murderer and people with child sexual abuse offenses.

In August 2025, Maxwell was moved to a minimum-security federal prison camp in Bryan, Texas. “She’s not a nice person,” Johnson stated. “She’s not a good person. She’s st.”**
