The Ripple, one of the two movies to be screened at Busan, is the story of a lady investigating the drowning of her granddaughter a year after the tragic accident. The film is directed by Lim Seunghyun and has Kim Jayeong and Hong Yeseo in the lead.
Dream Palace revolves around the real estate crisis of 2010, where two persons moved into an apartment only to realise that their home would be on sale again. The movie will feature Kim Sunyoung and Lee Yoonji in the lead and will be screening at Busan’s panorama section.
The other two movies announced for the Busan ACFM are Gyeongh-ah’s Daughter and The Fifth Thoracic Vertebra. Gyeongh-ah’s Daughter explores themes of patriarchy, violence and misogyny women face in Korea on a daily basis. The Fifth Thoracic Vertebra is a unique movie that traces the journey of an abandoned mattress. The former is directed by Kim Jung-eun, and the latter by Park Syeyeong.
