As flooding concerns loomed large in and around Indianapolis on Monday, several schools in the area were reportedly affected by delays or closures on Monday. The area also witnessed a frosty start to the day. Central Indiana was lashed by rains over the weekend. The region south of Indianapolis was particularly affected by the downpour.

Indianapolis flooding concerns on Monday

Unrelenting rainfall has resulted in flooding concerns in the Indianapolis region. Several areas were battered by powerful storms last week and are now witnessing a return to normalcy. Indianapolis has registered 5.94 inches of rain since the beginning of this month. The constant downpour marked the wettest early-April recorded in the city.

Indianapolis schools closed, delayed

School districts across the counties of Brown, Bartholomew, Morgan, and Shelby are set to be affected by the delays and closures, according to FOX59. The outlet said it was tracking the delays and closures with CBS4. Here's a list of the affected school districts, as published by FOX59:

NWS Indianapolis weather warning

"Fog has developed over a majority of central Indiana, with more frequent areas of widespread dense fog developing over southern portions of the region. If traveling this morning, leave extra distance and use low beam headlights," NWS Indianapolis said in an advisory early Monday.

Central Indiana headed for below freezing temperatures

The NWS also warned of a cold front, which it predicted would pass through later in the day, pushing in much below normal temperatures into central Indiana. "All of central Indiana is expected to fall below freezing tonight," it added.
