Three people have been killed and two injured in a shooting at a shopping mall in Indianapolis. In the incident, the shooter was killed by a 22-year-old carrying a licensed gun. The young hero stopped the rifle-carrying gunman immediately after he started shooting. However, before the gunman was neutralised, he had hit five people.

One of the injured is a girl of 12 years of age, whose condition is now stable. The incident happened in a shopping mall called Greenwood Park in Greenwood, in Indianapolis, located in the state of Indiana.

There is no information about the age and gender of the people killed in the shooting yet, but as per the reports, a man casually entered the mall with a rifle and started shooting randomly near the food court, killing three fatally and injuring two. That's when the hero of the moment, a 22-year-old man, who was carrying a licensed gun, shot the killer almost immediately after the latter went on killing spree.

A suspicious-looking bag was also found by police in a washroom close to the food court. It is still in their possession.

Officers visited the mall at around 6 pm to compile their reports and came across this bag that probably was carried by the killer gunman himself. Investigations by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police and many others are currently on.

Jim Ison - the 'Hero'

Jim Ison, the Greenwood Police Department chief, called the young savior a "Hero", who saved many lives.

Mayor of Greenwood Mark Myers has sought prayers for the lives lost in the tragedy.

The young lad, who brought down the killer, hailed from Bartholomew, which is located in the north of Indianapolis. He luckily had his licensed gun and put it to good use.

The shooting took place after similar tragic incidents rocked schools, churches, grocery stores and the fourth of July Parade in Highland Park, Illinois in the US in recent months. However, many individual murders and killings occur daily in the U.S. don't make it to the news. The gun culture in the country is to blame for a carnage like this. The US Congress under Biden has been making laws that could prevent many of the killings, but sales of guns don't seem to be halting.

The Assistant Chief of Police Indianapolis, Chris Bailey, says he is sick of this kind of tragedy occurring in the country. More details on this matter are expected soon.
