Indiana officer critically wounded in traffic check shooting
After a car check and probable drug search, a gunfight ensued, leaving one police officer seriously injured, according to authorities.

The police said Brev, Burton's K-9 partner, was employed to search the area around the moped, and according to the police, the dog detected potential drug activity. According to state police Sgt. Scott Keegan, "during the traffic check, the suspect drew a handgun and fired multiple bullets." Burton had been hurt. According to police, the man was apprehended after other officers fired.
Burton, 28, was transported by ambulance to a local hospital before being flown by helicopter to a hospital in Dayton, Ohio, where her condition was rated as critical. She has worked for the Richmond department for four years.
Deputy Police Chief Mike Britt of Richmond remarked, "It's traumatic." "This is a worst-case scenario, which is one of the issues we've discussed tonight. Secondary victims exist. I've got officers who are emotionally hurt. The police added that after treating the moped rider for gunshot wounds, they sent him to a hospital by ambulance. He was detained, and a prosecutor will examine the case to determine the most likely accusations. The Indiana State Police were still looking into the matter.
