Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny continues to struggle at both the domestic box office (US) and international box office during its initial week of release, marking another setback for a highly anticipated Hollywood blockbuster following The Flash's underwhelming performance in June.

Although the film managed to secure the top spot at the US box office, its projected opening weekend earnings of $60 million fell on the lower end of expectations. Meanwhile, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse achieved an impressive $120.7 million during its first weekend. Similarly, The Flash earned $55 million over its initial three days.

The international box office results for Dial of Destiny were also lackluster, with an estimated $70 million across 52 territories. Consequently, the film's total opening weekend gross amounted to $130 million. It's worth noting that the production budget for the movie is said to be around $300 million.

As per a Deadline report, the disappointing performance of “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” seems to be due to Disney's decision to hold a premiere at Cannes. The film received mostly average reviews at the festival. Additionally, it's possible that lead actor Harrison Ford's star power at the box office is not as strong as it once was. His previous adventure film, The Call of the Wild, also underperformed, resulting in an estimated $50 million loss for the studio.

The focus now shifts to the international release of "Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One" in the second week of July.
