Indiana Jones 5 release date revealed by Harrison Ford during Star Wars celebration

Fans of 'Indiana Jones' were thrilled as the protagonist, Harrison Ford, revealed the release date of the next movie in the franchise. According to Ford, his upcoming flick, 'Indiana Jones 5', would hit the screens on 30th June 2023.

On Thursday, 26th May 2022, Harrison Ford attended the Star Wars Celebration and made a surprise appearance at the Lucasfilm panel. As it turned out, his appearance was solely to reveal the date for his upcoming and highly awaited movie, 'Indiana Jones 5'.

Aged 79, Ford approached the stage to the 'Indy' theme of Indiana Jones's iconic franchise. The theme was played by the well-known composer John Williams and a live orchestra.


After revealing the date, Ford also honoured John Williams, who would be turning 90 in February 2023. Talking to the audience, Ford said that it is his special honour to congratulate Williams on turning 90. He also added that, on another occasion, he had told Williams that they had the chance to be together and that music follows him wherever he goes. He said that he was happy about it.

About the franchise, 'Indiana Jones' is a movie which showcases the protagonist, the namesake, as an American archaeologist. He goes on about his search for mythological artefacts, and his tasks usually land him in the middle of dangerous and world-altering conflicts.

Director James Mangold, who has directed iconic movies like 'Ford v Ferrari' and 'Logan', is helming 'Indiana Jones 5'. He comes as a replacement for Steven Spielberg, who has directed the first four instalments of this franchise.

Although 'Indiana Jones 5' was supposed to release in July 2020, the pandemic pushed back the release date as theatres were locked down due to the pandemic. However, as the pandemic restrictions have eased up, the coming year will see the release, which has fans eager and excited at the same time.
