A tragic news has hit Eugene city. On Wednesday, a football player's body was found near Triangle Lake.

The death of Oregon Ducks tight end Spencer has promoted a series of tributes to the 22-year-old player. According to the Sheriff of Lane County, the young player slipped and died after hitting his head near the Lake. The news was released on the Lane County sheriff's Facebook page when he got identified as Spencer Webb after contacting the family and sports coach.

How did Spencer Webb die?

  • Oregon Ducks footballer Spencer Webb died in a cliff-diving accident at Lane County.
  • According to the agency, deputies got the message at around 2:39 pm of an injured person in that area.
  • After they reached the spot, they found that the body of Spencer Webb was already put out on rock slides just west of Triangle Lake.
  • As per reports, Spencer Webb slipped and hit his head near the rocks and died.
  • The paramedics and people present on the scene tried to revive the 22-year-old, but all the efforts were futile.
  • The rescue and search staff from the Sheriff's office went out to help to get the body back to the road, as he was over 100 yards below the steep trail.
  • The Sheriff's office refused to give any other details. People close to Spencer Webb responded to the news of his passing away on social media.


Spencer Webb came from Sacramento and was still a junior at the University of Oregon. He completed his schooling at Christian Brothers High School.

Spencer Webb's death was an accidental tragedy. SB Nation Underdog Dynasty's managing director and sports writer, Crus Smith, has expressed sorrow over the death of the young and talented football player. The authorities have added that they have found no trace of any foul play.

One of Webb's family friends and coach, Terrance Leonard, talked about his death saying this is a big loss for everyone. He said he could not even believe this happened, and Spencer Webb was like a son to him and was an amazing kid with a great personality.

The death came as devastating news to everyone who knew Spencer Webb. Twitter was filled with condolence messages saying it is a sad day for all Duck football fans and the Sacramento community. Cameron Derby said on Twitter that Spencer Webb brought energy to every game.
