In a new song called 'Thank You God' Jussie Smollett declares his innocence
On Friday, Jussie Smollett released his new song "Thank You God..." reiterating his innocence after being punished for a 150-day jail for lying about being a victim of a hate crime in 2019.

Smollett's first song since his court trial started in 2019 after he claimed that he was attacked by two men on a Chicago street, is "Thank You God..." The two males bound him and hung a rope over his neck and made bigotry and homophobic remarks.
It was a planned attack
According to the previous reports, Smollett was criminated with five charges of disruptive behavior for reporting a fake hate crime to Chicago police in 2019.
An investigation after the alleged incident quickly evolved into a probe into Smollett. The actor was then detained on suspicion of planning the attack and lying to authorities.
At trial, prosecutors claimed that Smollett paid two brothers, Abimbola and Olabinjo Osundairo, to stage an attack on him that night. During the trial, the Osundairo brothers said that Smollett paid them $3,500 and gave them detailed directions on how to stage the attack.
All profits from the song will be given to the non-profit organizations
Smollett declared in his caption that he would contribute all gains from the song to various non-profit groups.
After his attorneys submitted a plea to have him released pending the conclusion of his case appeal, Smollett was released from jail last month. According to NBC News, the attorneys have asked for their client's 150-day prison term to be postponed or placed on hold.
Smollett was sentenced to pay $120,106 in damages as part of his penalty in order to cover the investigation amount. Despite the fact that the case is still ongoing, Smollett was freed from jail after six days.
