Technocrat and SpaceX boss Elon Musk has confirmed via a tweet that the fleet of ships of the Royal Caribbean Group will be getting a ‘kickass internet connection’ soon.

Elon Musk quoted a tweet by Royal Caribbean Group, which stated that its cruise ships would soon implement SpaceX’s Starlink.

In the official tweet, RCG claimed that it would be the first in the industry to implement the high-speed internet technology from Elon Musk’s company. The technology will be first implemented on Royal Caribbean ships, Celebrity Cruises, and Silversea ships, RCG confirmed in the tweet.

SpaceX’s Starlink is one of the world's most sophisticated internet service providers. Per a Bloomberg report, SpaceX is now more important for Elon Musk than Tesla, as the latter's stock price continues to fall. The rocket company has turned out to be the most successful startup in the United States, increasing its valuation up to $127 billion. Starlink is the company’s high-speed satellite internet constellation, which aims to develop satellite personal communications services in a few years’ time.

In a first for the cruise industry, the partnership with SpaceX will allow Royal Caribbean Group to provide high-speed internet to its passengers on the high seas. According to RCG’s President and CEO, Jason Liberty, Starlink’s deployment on their cruise ships will be the technology’s largest public deployment in the travel industry worldwide. The president claimed that high-speed internet would allow RCG to provide a better vacation experience to its guests.

Installation of Starlink’s internet services on luxury cruise ships is expected to begin immediately, offering groundbreaking internet connectivity to the passengers and the crew. The high bandwidth facilitated by the 3000+ lower orbit satellites will allow for video streaming, video conferencing, and other internet utilities even in the middle of oceans.

Elon Musk recently announced that SpaceX would be partnering with T-Mobile to solve internet connectivity issues in rural areas considered dead zones. Meanwhile, SpaceX launched 46 new Starlink internet satellites into orbit via the in-house Falcon 9 rocket.
