In 2014, Pennsylvania's Republican candidate Mehmet Oz made a striking statement about making love to second cousins. This is what he said
The Turkish American television personality, Mehmet Oz, or Dr. Oz, as he is professionally known, said that it should not be considered a big issue if a person chooses to have relations with their second cousins.

Mehmet Oz said that it should not be a huge issue if the person you are making out with is more than your first cousin. To this, Yee had replied that a person's second cousin is alright to have made love to. Charlamagne added that he knew it, which seemed hilarious to him. DJ Envy then asked him how Charlemagne knew that. Then, the famous personality replied that he knew it because he was from that country. Dr. Oz was then asked if having relations with third cousins was alright, to which he replied in the affirmative.
In what is known as 'Dr. Oz defends Incest', Mehmet Oz says that he thinks that the way relationships with one's distant cousins were described as being incestuous, by the mainstream media and the liberal people, showed how they think it will destroy the mindset of conservative candidates, but it does not do so.
The actual effect those types of comments have on the people is that the commentator gets separated from the voters they are trying to influence, or at least, they think they are successful in doing so. Despite that, this statement is a humorous example of Dr. Oz's long journey, going from being a medical expert then switching to being a nostrum peddler. It also reminds us of the unpleasant remarks he had made about the people who use tobacco, showing how contradictory politics is not a path for him.
