In 1973, Zsa Zsa Gabor bought a home for $250 thousand; after listing post-death for $23.45 million, it eventually sold for $10.4 million

Hungarian-American actor Zsa Zsa Gabor’s home in Bel Air, Los Angeles, California, had been sold three times since her death in December 2016. The third sale was for exactly $16 million to Robert Friedland, a Singapore-based diamond mogul and Forbes-listed billionaire.

In 2018, the house was sold for $20.8 million, whereas the third sale was at a considerably lower price.

According to reports, the 2018 buyer neither renovated the mansion nor moved into it. He left the house vacant for over two years, reportedly resulting in a loss of $4.8 million when he finally decided to sell it.


Zsa Zsa Gabor bought the house for $245,000 in 1973. She lived there for over 40 years.

Gabor often claimed that Howard Hughes had arranged for the house to be built. However, he is believed to have only rented it for a period in the 1960s.

This extremely lavish mansion, decorated in a glamorous old Hollywood style, spans 6,400 square feet.

There are conflicting claims about whether Elvis Presley ever resided in the house. Gabor’s mansion was also used to portray musician Liberace’s home in the film 'Behind the Candelabra'. In reality, however, Liberace never actually lived there.

The mansion has several celebrity connections, but some are disputed.

The mustard-coloured, mansard-roofed mansion has not changed since the days when Tinseltown queen Zsa Zsa Gabor presided over it.

The house features many contrasting colours, including red and yellow. Behind it, a small cabana sits on a brick patio next to a large swimming pool, providing a place to relax. Tall hedges hinder the view of the mansion, while an iron gate secures the driveway from road.
