Illinois Congressman Sean Casten's daughter Gwen dies at the age of 17

Congressman Sean Casten's beloved daughter, Gwen, just 17 years old and an avid social worker like her father, died, as per Casten's Twitter handle. As per Illinois television stations, all campaign spots for Casten's have been pulled off the air until further notice. The Casten family requests their privacy at this difficult time.

The death of his daughter happened suddenly when the teenager was found to be deceased by the first responders in their family home just before 7 a.m. The first responders had received a call that a 17-year-old girl was not breathing, and they discovered her lying dead in the family home in Downers Grove. The coroner has been called, but the cause of death remains unknown.

Gwen was a highly socially active person like her father and was always passionate about causes that were dear to her. Sean Casten remarked a few days back that he takes immense pride in his daughter's causes, especially those on "gun control". Gwen had taken part in her school's activity, where kids were taught how to "stop the bleed" by bandaging gunshot wounds so that victims survive till they arrive at a hospital.


Representative Casten said it is a big shame that kids are doing what elderly senators in Congress could not do about gun control. Gwen was also a co-director of "March for Our Lives"- Illinois Chapter, a youth movement on gun control.

Gwen is also featured in a campaign video for her father, who is now fighting his third bid for the US Congress against fellow incumbent Democrat Representative Marie Newman. Representative Newman has also pulled out her paid advertisements till further notice. Newman stated that she is extremely saddened by the significant loss of Sean and Kara and the entire Casten family due to the death of their daughter Gwen.
