Idaho passes new bill to ban abortion

According to the newest Idaho legislature bill, any abortion in the state will be illegal once fetal heartbeat, which happens in almost six weeks of pregnancy, is detected in the mother. After this detection, if anyone performs an abortion on a woman, a relative of the unborn child such as parents, grandparents, uncle, or aunt can take legal actions against that medical practitioner. Abortion can only be performed in medical emergencies, rape or incest.

Details on the passing of this bill:

The Idaho legislature made it the first state to enforce the fetal heartbeat law after Texas' controversial law back in September. The "Fetal heartbeat, Preborn Child Protection Act" bill will now pass on to the Republican Gov. Brad Little for his approval. The GOP-controlled House of Idaho passed Bill 1309 with a 51-14 vote count, allowing the Idaho abortion ball bill to come into effect. The bill now needs to proceed to Republican Gov. Brad Little's desk for approval.


Idaho abortion bill received instant criticism from Planned Parenthood as it called a replica of Texas' law that bans almost all kinds of abortion in the United States.

The 'fetal heartbeat law' states that any form of abortion will be illegal as soon as the embryonic or fetal heartbeat is detected. Texas passed this law in September 2021, and now Idaho is bringing the law into effect.
