'Icon of the Seas' 5 times larger than Titanic; know all about the new cruise ship
The world’s obsession with big shipping vessels continues, with Icon of the Seas all set to make its debut. Here’s what we know about it.

The RMS Titanic was at the time the largest ship in the world. The Royal Caribbean International, people behind creating Icon of the Seas, has now staked a claim to their "first-of-its-kind" ship being five times larger than the ill-fated Titanic.
All about Icon of the Seas
Icon of the Seas measures 1,198 feet long, with 250,800 gross tonnage. The cruise ship has 20 decks, seven swimming pools, and "record-breaking" waterslides. The large ship can carry 7,600 guests and 2,350 crew members.
How is the Icon of the Seas bigger than the Titanic?
The Titanic in 1912 was more than 852 feet long, with 46,329 gross tonnage. The Icon of the Seas' tonnage is five times that of the Titanic.
The Icon of the Seas will be operational in January 2024. Here is what the ship’s areas look like:
At the front of the ship is the ‘AquaDome’, with a 55-foot waterfall and 220-degree views.
There is a Mediterranean restaurant and two-floor sundeck in the ‘Suite Neighborhood’.
The ship has its own five-deck-high and open-air ‘Central Park’ with real plants.
There’s more – ‘Thrill Island’ has the largest waterpark at sea, called ‘Category 6’.
‘Royal Promenade’ with direct views of the ocean.
A full 180-degree view at ‘The Hideaway’, which also has an infinity pool.
Tickets to Icon of the Seas
The Icon of the Seas ticket reservations opened in October 2022, when the ticket fare started at $1,537 per person. Currently, Royal Caribbean is selling the cheapest ticket to Icon of the Seas at $1,851 for an interior room on a cruise from Miami to the Western Caribbean in September 2024.
The costliest suite on Icon of the Seas is $10,864 for travel in March 2024.
The Icon of the Seas also has a seven-day package for a trip to the Eastern Caribbean.
