'I married the love of my life’: Erika Kirk breaks down watching video of late husband Charlie, says 'didn’t sign up for anything' as Erika-JD Vance viral intimate hug video sparks social media frenzy

Erika Kirk, widow of Charlie Kirk, became emotional during an appearance on Fox News host 'Jesse Watters Primetime' at Turning Point USA headquarters, where she broke down while watching a video tribute to her late husband. Erika assumed the role of CEO at Turning Point USA just days after the assassination of her husband, Charlie, who founded the conservative organization in 2012.


The couple married in 2021 and went on to welcome two children - a daughter in 2022 and a son in 2024. This marked her first sit-down interview, scheduled to be aired live on November 5 at 8PM ET on 'Jesse Watters Primetime', since the assassination of her husband on September 10.


"Sorry guys, just give me a second," she said tearfully. "This is the longest video I’ve watched of him. Just give me a second."

During the interview, Watters noted that Charlie had dedicated his life to 'saving Western civilization' and asked Erika if she had anticipated being part of that mission. The 36-year-old replied that her decision to marry him had nothing to do with that cause.

"I didn’t sign up for anything. I just married the love of my life," Erika told Fox News.

Erika recently triggered a controversy after sharing a warm on-stage hug with US Vice President JD Vance during a Turning Point USA event at University of Mississippi. The embrace quickly went viral, prompting mixed reactions across social media.


Erika was seen wearing a white 'Freedom' T-shirt with black leather pants, while Vance appeared in a blue suit. The clip drew particular attention on X (formerly Twitter), where several users described the exchange as 'intimate', noting that Erika placed her hands gently on Vance’s head during the embrace.


In one of the viral clips from the event, Erika was heard saying, "No one will ever replace Charlie... but I do see some similarities between my husband and JD - Vice President JD Vance."
