Hurricane Nicole news: Storm brings rain to Northeast, drenches Georgia and Carolinas after battering Florida
Nicole becomes a post-tropical cyclone after causing massive destruction in Florida, sending heavy thunderstorms across the Carolina and Virginia area on Friday before making landfall in the Northeast.

The leftovers of the storm are now anticipated to track through the Northeast and eastern Canada through Saturday, with heavy rain and strong winds extending from the Mid-Atlantic and Ohio Valley to New England overnight, according to the National Hurricane Center.
Nicole is forecasted to bring another 1 to 3 inches of rain on areas of the East Coast through Saturday AM before moving off-shore and away from the Atlantic coast.
Isolated flash, urban, and small stream flooding were forecast throughout the central Appalachians and northern Mid-Atlantic, notably in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Through early Saturday, heavy rain and localized floods are also anticipated over New England.
While many people in the Carolinas and Georgia were under wind advisory early Friday, the National Weather Service says regions of New Jersey, New York, and Massachusetts will be under one until Saturday morning. Wind gusts of up to 50 miles per hour were possible.
