Gloria Rodriguez, the 90s rapper, who scored a hit with her 1997 single "Somebody Else," passed away recently. She was 52.

Hurricane G's family announced this sad news last night. Soon after, social media was flooded with the honours and tributes from her fans and the music world.

Erick Sermon, who has a daughter with Gloria, spoke at length about her death on Instagram. "My heart is hardened today," he wrote. He added that "My good friend and my oldest daughter's mother passed away today."


Hurricane G was the only female rapper, who joined the East Coast hip-hop group Def Squad. Her partners in the squad were Keith Murray, Redman and Erick Sermon.
