Hungary’s autocratic leader Viktor Orban urge US Conservatives to take charge, prepare for 2024’s presidential elections
US Conservatives hailed and applauded Viktor Orban as the latter encouraged the conservatives in America to take control of the country, showing a growing relationship between Republicans and the Hungarian leader.

Orban’s speech received enthusiastic cheers and applause from the Conservative party at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC). The conference was held in a ballroom in Dallas. It was a three-day event wherein Orban spoke at one of the key slots.
The far-right Hungarian Prime Minister has constantly faced criticism for undermining Hungary’s democratic institutions. The applause that Conservatives gave him showed the growing relationship between the Republicans and Orban.
Orban went on to ridicule the media of the US and Europe. In his speech, titled ‘How We Fight,’ Orban asked the crowd to focus on 2024’s Presidential elections. He said the crowd had two years for preparations, although he did not endorse any political party or group.
Orban added that victory never comes following the path of least resistance. He urged the crowd to take back institutions in Brussels and Washington and added that people should find allies and friends in one another.
Addressing liberals, Orban said that they hated him and his country in the same manner that they hated Republicans and their version of America.
Orban’s entry received a better welcome compared to Republican Gregg Abbott, who made appearance on the same stage. The CPAC event would see other political speakers, the likes of whom include ex-President Donald Trump, Republican Representative of Georgia, Marjorie Taylor Greene, and other Republican candidates.
Considered the closest EU ally to Russian President Vladimir Putin, Orban faced backlash in Hungary over his anti-immigration stance, wherein he called Europe a mixed-race society. This followed the resignation of one of his closest associates, who compared Orban’s remark to Nazi rhetoric.
Though cheered by the Conservatives, Orban has been labelled as the face of a new authoritarian wave. The EU has launched multiple legal proceedings against Hungary for breaching the rules, withholding relief fund money, and insufficient safeguards against corruption.
