According to the local media, there's no explanation for the weird behaviour of hundreds of sheep in China that have been walking in circles continuously for over 10 days.

The veterinarians have maintained silence over the video. However, one possible reason for this weird behaviour of the sheep could be Listeriosis or Circling Disease.

Probable cause behind the weird behavior of sheep

The Merck Veterinary Manual states that the Circling Disease can cause the infected animals to lean against stationary objects, propel themselves into corners, or circle toward the affected side. The manual also states that this disease can infect many animals.


The cause of the weird behavior exhibited by the sheep in China is not proven to be the Circling Disease yet. However, this only encouraged people to come up with possible reasons for this behavior.
