How Winchester’s Soccer Dad James Fantini was caught secretly filming teen girls showering

James Fantini, 56, of Winchester, Massachusetts, pleaded guilty in Woburn District Court to secretly videotaping three 15-year-old girls undressing and showering at a residence in Winchester. This involved three separate occasions where Fantini filmed the unsuspecting girls without their knowledge, as confirmed by Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Winchester Police Chief Daniel O’Connell on Friday, 11 July.

In addition to these Massachusetts incidents, investigators revealed that in June 2024, Fantini attempted to film two other 15-year-old girls undressing in a hotel bathroom during a youth soccer tournament in Huntington Beach, California.

He allegedly hid his phone under a baseball cap to record them, but the girls noticed and reported him to the police. A search of Fantini’s phone uncovered the previous videos from both California and Massachusetts.

Fantini was charged with three counts of photographing an unsuspecting person and unlawful wiretapping. He was sentenced to two and a half years in state prison, followed by three years of probation.

During probation, he must wear a GPS monitor, avoid Winchester, and have no contact with the victims or anyone under 18 years old.
