To capture a particular portion on the screen, Mac users need to press and release the Shift, Command, and "4" keys together. The combination turns the pointer into a crosshair. In order to screenshot any specific portion, click and hold the trackpad button (or the mouse) while dragging the crosshair to enclose the desired area within a frame. Releasing the trackpad button will capture a screenshot of the enclosed portion.
