Israel is engaged in selective and targeted killing of Hezbollah commanders to avenge the October 7 attack, in which Hamas militants killed more than 1,200 Israeli citizens and took hostage more than 250 civilians. In the Gaza War that followed the Hamas attack, Lebanon-based Shiite militant outfit Hezbollah fired hundreds of missiles at Israel, killing many civilians. Now, Israel is using drones and different types of missiles, weapons and intelligence-gathering equipment to hunt and kill Hezbollah leaders, reports 'Los Angeles Times'.

Targeted killing of Hezbollah commanders

Planned and targeted carefully and executed mercilessly, these operations are killing Hezbollah commanders one by one. The news outlet reported that an Israeli drone fired a missile targeting a Renault van in southern Lebanon. After the Hezbollah operative escaped and fled to hide behind a thicket, a second missile killed him.

In yet another drone attack, a Dodge pickup carrying a commander in Jamaah Al-Islamiyah was targeted. It killed a member of the Lebanese Sunni Islamist faction allied with Hezbollah.

After Hezbollah launched a "solidarity campaign" and joined Hamas in the fight against the Jewish state in Gaza, Tel Aviv Israel has killed more than two dozen Hezbollah commanders in cold blood.

Hezbollah's southeastern district chief Sami Taleb Abdullah was killed after the house in which he and three other operatives were holding a secret meeting, was bombed. Israeli security forces killed Mohammad Nimeh Nasser, who commanded the southwestern division, three weeks later. He was driving in the southern city of Tyre when a missile fell on his vehicle.

The Lebanon-based Shiite group is upset as its agencies fail to understand how Israel managed to identify, track and kill top commanders of the group.
