Anne Burrell, the famous Food Network chef, died by suicide, officials confirmed. She was found unresponsive in her shower at her Brooklyn home on the morning of June 17. EMS got a 911 call at 7:50 a.m. about possible cardiac arrest. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to New York City’s Medical Examiner, she died from "acute intoxication" after taking a mix of diphenhydramine, ethanol, cetirizine, and amphetamine. These substances include alcohol, allergy meds, and ADHD meds, as per the report by People.

Over 100 pills were reportedly found around her body in the bathroom. The fire department also confirmed the incident at her address that day, according to the report by NBC.

Burrell was 55 years old when she passed away. Born on September 21, 1969, in Cazenovia, New York, she grew up loving food, inspired by her mom’s cooking and Julia Child. Burrell studied English and Communication at Canisius College before switching to culinary. She later graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in 1996, as per the reports.

Burrell first appeared as a sous chef on Iron Chef America. She then got her own hit show, “Secrets of a Restaurant Chef,” which ran for 9 seasons starting in 2008. She has hosted the popular “Worst Cooks in America” since 2010, as stated in the reports by NBC and People.
