While the Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike has caused disruptions in the production of many TV shows, one series that remains unaffected, at least for now, is House of the Dragon. The second season's scripts were completed prior to the strike, and filming was already underway when it commenced, allowing HBO to continue the captivating tale of the Targaryen dynasty.

Clare Kilner, the series director, recently shared details with Collider about the ongoing production of House of the Dragon. She revealed that a team of five directors is working on the eight episodes of the second season. Kilner also discussed her shooting schedule for the upcoming months, stating, "I shot a few days in the last couple of weeks, and then actually tomorrow I'm diving full in until September."

Kilner teases season 2 of House of the Dragon

Kilner expressed enthusiasm for her involvement in the series, particularly highlighting her work on episodes 2 and 5, which she described as "really interesting." While she refrained from giving away specific details, her excitement offered fans a glimpse of what they can anticipate when the new season premieres, expected sometime next year.

House of the Dragon, the prequel to Game of Thrones, has already gained a dedicated fan base. The first season, comprising ten episodes, is currently available for streaming on HBO Max, providing viewers with an immersive experience into the world of Westeros.

Although plans are in motion for House of the Dragon season 2 to debut in 2024, potential complications may arise due to the ongoing strike. Uncertainty remains regarding how the strike could impact elements such as rewrites or additions, which sometimes occur during production.

Furthermore, there are rumors circulating that HBO may move forward with an early renewal for the show's third season. Such a decision aims to minimize the wait between seasons 2 and 3, which was notably lengthy between the show's initial two seasons. However, the writers' strike could impede progress if it prevents HBO from reassembling the writers' room.
