Tour bus from Niagara Falls to New York City overturns on I-90 near Pembroke; Multiple fatalities reported including at least one child
According to New York State Police, the bus was traveling eastbound when, for reasons still under investigation, it veered into the median, overcorrected, and ended up in a ditch. The crash resulted in multiple fatalities and numerous injuries.
At least one child was among the deceased. Several passengers were ejected from the bus as windows shattered, and many others were trapped inside. Emergency responders, including multiple medical helicopters, were dispatched to the scene. At least 16 patients were transported to Erie County Medical Center, with others taken to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester and Buffalo General Medical Center.
Authorities have deployed translators to assist in communication and identification efforts.
The bus involved was a full-size tour vehicle. Preliminary reports suggest that most passengers were not wearing seat belts, which may have contributed to the severity of the injuries and the number of ejections. New York law mandates that passengers wear seat belts on charter buses manufactured after November 28, 2016; however, it is unclear whether this vehicle met that requirement.

Ongoing investigation
The driver of the bus survived the crash and is cooperating with investigators. Authorities have indicated that they have a preliminary understanding of the events leading up to the crash, but have not yet determined the exact cause. The investigation is ongoing.
