Honey Boo Boo pays tribute to sister Anna Cardwell who dies aged 29

Reality TV star Honey Boo Boo's sister, Anna Cardwell, passed away at the age of 29 after battling adrenal cancer since January 2023.

Honey Boo Boo, also known as Alana Thompson, shared on Instagram that Anna was in so much pain last night, but now they know she is at peace.

The family rose to fame on the child beauty pageant show Toddlers & Tiaras before featuring in their own series, Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.


Honey Boo Boo expressed that her heart was entirely broken as she wrote beneath a family photo, sharing, "Watching my 29-year-old sister battle this horrible disease hasn't been easy this last year. Anna was a fighter and still is."

She further mentioned that she would've loved for Anna Cardwell to see her graduate college, but she will forever “cheer for me on in heaven! We will all make sure her legacy lives on forever."

In a similar post on Instagram, her mother, June Shannon, 44, remarked that her daughter had "given one hell of a fight for 10 months.”

In May, Shannon verified that Cardwell's cancer had progressed to stage four.

The family hosted a reality TV series spanning from 2012 to 2014, chronicling Thompson's journey as a child beauty pageant participant from the age of six.

Alana, accompanied by her parents and three sisters, including Anna Cardwell (formerly Anna Shannon, known as Chickadee), was featured in the show. Criticism and concerns about child exploitation led to its cancellation after four seasons. Reports emerged of Honey Boo Boo's mother being in a relationship with a registered sex offender.

Following the cancellation, the family participated in other reality TV shows such as Marriage Boot Camp and The Masked Singer. They are currently featured in "Mama June: From Not to Hot," a US reality show that documents June Shannon's weight loss journey.
