Hillary Clinton 2028 comeback? What she just said has everyone talking
Hillary Clinton addressed rumors of a 2028 presidential run, calling herself a "plausible candidate" but stating she is not planning to run. She expressed optimism about the Democratic party's "good bench" of potential candidates, citing a perceiv...

With the next election cycle slowly coming into focus, several prominent Democratic names are already being discussed. But for now, Clinton has made her own position clear.
Is Hillary Clinton Running Again?
As attention slowly shifts toward the 2028 presidential election, Hillary Clinton has moved quickly to shut down speculation about a possible return to the campaign trail, as per a report by The Mirror.
During an appearance at the Munich Security Conference in Germany, Clinton was directly asked if she was “thinking about running again.”
Her answer was immediate. “No. No, I’m not. But I think we’ll have some very good candidates. Some of them were at Munich.”
He wrote: "After nearly four decades in the public eye, no one would mistake Clinton for a fresh face. But her sharpness, and her apparent hunger for combat, would make her more plausible than many realize."
Despite renewed speculation, Clinton made it clear that she is not preparing for another White House bid, as per a report by The Mirror.
Instead, she turned the focus toward the wider Democratic field, suggesting that several strong names are likely to emerge.
"Yeah, Newsom was there. Other people whose names have been mentioned were there. But I think in our system, it’s not a parliamentary system, so we really don’t have a leader of the opposition party who would become prime minister or chancellor,” Clinton said.
“We have a kind of big messy contest. And so people are going to run. There’s probably going to be 10 to 15 people running. But we have a good bench, we have good candidates.”
Who are the leading Democratic names?
Among the names currently being discussed, Kamala Harris is leading early 2028 Democratic primary polling. She is followed by California Governor Gavin Newsom and former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg.
New York Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is also being mentioned as a potential contender and currently sits among the top names in early discussions.
Clinton herself referenced Newsom while speaking in Munich, noting that several figures whose names have been floated were present at the conference.
“And I really believe that what we’ve seen over this past year is the Republicans losing contests — governor, congressional contests, other contests — and we’ve also seen [President Donald] Trump’s favorability rating plummet,” Clinton added.
What did Hillary Clinton say about 2028?
Clinton’s comments also touched on Trump’s political standing as the midterms approach. Clinton also expressed optimism about the political direction of upcoming elections.
She pointed to recent Republican losses in governor and congressional contests and said Donald Trump’s favorability has declined significantly outside of his core support base.
At the same time, discussion continues on the Republican side as well, with JD Vance widely seen as a leading figure to carry the MAGA movement forward.
“He’s in the 30s. He is no longer popular, except his hardcore base will stay with him. So I’m optimistic. I’m optimistic about the midterm elections and then about the upcoming presidential.”
Meanwhile, on the Republican side, JD Vance continues to be seen as one of the leading figures for the future, with Trump reportedly saying Vance was "probably favored."
He also said that Secretary of State Marco Rubio was “also somebody that maybe would get together with JD in some form.”
Though Hillary Clinton’s position appears clear: despite ongoing speculation, she has ruled herself out of the 2028 race.
