High tariffs? Trump 2.0 seems to be good for China; here's why

It is now looking like Chinese Premier Xi Jinping's troubles and concerns surrounding the second Donald Trump administration will be taking a backseat, as the first day of the rein did not see much hostility towards the South Asian country from Tr...

Trump's new Tiktok deal a good sign?
When Donald Trump was the 45th US President, his approach towards China was a rather hostile one, but now that he has taken oath for his second term as the 47th US President, there appears to be a complete reversal in his stance towards China and the Xi Jinping government. There have not been many talks about the high tariffs to be imposed by Trump on China till now.

As per reports, the first day of the Trump administration bore some hints in itself that Trump's attitude towards China has altered significantly, and his DOGE head Elon Musk, and Chinese premier Xi Jinping are all 'singing from the same hymn sheet', according to a Fortune report.

Trump's Tiktok deal a good sign

Until now, China will be rather pleased with how Trump's first day in office went, with the first instance being the fact that the new President proposed an interesting deal that would save the popular China-based social media app TikTok from being banned in the US.

The US Department of Defense had earlier termed this app a 'security risk', and US-based military personnel was especially banned from using it before a nationwide ban was proposed by the Biden government.

US-China relations to grow stronger?

Reports suggest that Xi Jinping and Donald Trump had a telephonic conversation and they reached an important consensus regarding the development of China-US relations. Meanwhile, Elon Musk also met with China’s Vice President Han Zheng, and the duo talked about the necessity of Tesla to deepen its ties with the South Asian country.

These are complete reversals from the new US President's earlier stance about China, starting with the coronavirus epidemic, or Trump’s historic dislike of TikTok. One thing that stands apart from these facts are words from Donald Trump's speech that blamed Chinese influence over the Panama Canal, to be a reason for the US to initiate possible intervention in the region in the coming days.
