A Hangzhou-based startup company has reportedly been able to outsmart some top AI titans based in the US, including the likes of Nvidia, Intel, Apple, and others. This company has built an open-source AI model that is able to perform accurate and complex tasks without much hassle, just like any other AI model developed by Google, Amazon, and others.

China-based DeepSeek's AI models cheaper and better than OpenAI's?

This thing that the company, DeepSeek, is able to perform reportedly surpasses the performance of OpenAI’s o1 model released last year. Interestingly, DeepSeek's budget during its research and development was reasonably less than what was provided for OpenAI's project, according to a Fortune report. The large-language model, V3, built by the company, was trained using just $5.6 million in expenses, which is way less than the $100 million spent by OpenAI on GPT-4.
