Here are celebrities and politicians who are joining 'Swifties for Kamala' call

Politicians and celebrities joined together on a Zoom call hosted by "Swifties for Kamala" to lend their support to Kamala Harris's campaign. Even though Taylor Swift wasn't involved, the event attempted to get her followers involved in politics.

In an effort to mobilize support for Kamala Harris, left-leaning Taylor Swift fans, known as "Swifties," joined a Zoom call organized by the group “Swifties for Kamala.” The event featured notable artists like Carole King and politicians such as Sen. Elizabeth Warren and Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand. The initiative aims to leverage the vast fan base of Taylor Swift, despite the singer having no direct involvement or affiliation with the group, as per the reports of MSN.

The call, held on Tuesday, attracted over 26,000 registrants and successfully raised more than $138,000 for Kamala Harris's campaign. High-profile attendees included Sen. Ed Markey, Rep. Chris Deluzio, Rep. Becca Balint, and Anderson Clayton, the chair of the North Carolina Democratic Party. Although there was hope that Harris or her running mate Tim Walz might join the call, neither made an appearance.

Warren and King take the lead

Elizabeth Warren was the first speaker, warmly greeting the attendees with a “Hello Swifties!” and encouraging them to continue standing up against bullies like Donald Trump. She praised the resilience and authenticity of Swift’s fans, drawing parallels to the values upheld by the Kamala Harris campaign. Carole King added her voice to the event, singing Swift’s hit song “Shake It Off” and urging participants to use their voices in support of the election. King shared her long history of political activism and expressed pride in both Swift and Harris, highlighting her close relationship with the pop star.

Gillibrand's Swiftie jokes and Markey's climate focus

Kirsten Gillibrand lightened the mood with a few Swift-inspired jokes, making references to Swift's lyrics and the controversial "cat lady" remarks made by Trump’s running mate, JD Vance. She emphasized the importance of independent women and Swift’s powerful influence on the current generation, urging them to be active participants in the upcoming election.

Sen. Ed Markey addressed the serious issue of climate change, using Swift’s Rhode Island summer home as an example of the environmental threats facing the country. He stressed the urgency of electing leaders like Kamala Harris, who are committed to combating climate change, as opposed to climate deniers.

Donations in Swiftie fashion

The event’s organizers creatively tied their donation requests to significant numbers in Swift’s life, suggesting amounts like $13, $19.89, or $47, symbolizing the potential next president. The call ended with a strong push for action, encouraging Swift’s fan base to contribute to the campaign and make their voices heard in the upcoming election.
