Heavy snow warning for Pennsylvania, New York, New Hampshire, Maine, North Carolina: Storm, rain expected for parts of Washington, Oregon

U.S. weather forecast today: Across the Northeast, much colder and windy conditions will move into the region with highs below average for late March on Monday. From northwestern Pennsylvania and New York into New Hampshire and Maine, there may be snow showers that could reduce visibility and cause slippery spots on roads.

To the south from Georgia to far southern portions of North Carolina, showers and thunderstorms will develop in the afternoon. Some of the thunderstorms could become gusty with downpours and localized damaging wind gusts. The rest of the East will be largely dry.

Across the Plains and the Rockies, dry weather will persist across the region. The warmth will return to the Rockies on Monday before spreading farther east into midweek with temperatures well above average for this time of year.


The stretch of heat with plenty of sunshine will continue across much of the Southwest as high pressure remains in control and will continue into midweek. Highs will be well above average for late March. Across the Northwest, dry weather will continue with temperatures around average for this time of year. Wet weather will return at night across western Washington and northwestern Oregon.

While dry weather and extreme heat continue in the Southwest, the Northwest is expected to have yet another storm. Periodic rain is expected for parts of Washington, Oregon and northern Idaho with little snow in the mountains Tuesday and Tuesday night.
