American Heart Association has predicted that About 61% of US adults will have cardiovascular disease by 2050, reports CBS News. Based on new research, it has been said that high blood pressure will be the main driver of this trend in the next 30 years.

45 million adults will have CVD

The American Heart Association said in a report released on Tuesday that by 2050, six out of 10 people in the US will be suffering from one type of cardiovascular disease CVD or the other. It also said that 45 million adults will have some form of cardiovascular disease. It was 28 million in 2020.

The American Heart Association said, "Clinically, cardiovascular disease is identified as a number of specific conditions, including coronary heart disease (including heart attack), arrhythmias (including atrial fibrillation), valvular disease, congenital heart disease, heart failure, stroke and hypertension.,"


Rise in heart stroke predicted

The American Heart Association also said that stroke will register the largest increase, as it would jump from 3.9% to 6.4%. The total prevalence number will nearly double from 10 million to almost 20 million adults. Similarly, coronary heart disease will rise from 7.8% to 9.2%, while heart failure will go up from 2.7% to 3.8%.

Hispanics and Blacks to suffer more

The report also says that the prevalence will vary by racial and ethnic groups. The increase in total projected numbers of people with CVD rose most among Hispanic adults and Asian populations. On the other hand, Black adults are projected to have the highest prevalence of hypertension, diabetes and obesity.
