What is Heardle?
Heardle is a unique word game cum music puzzle. It’s much like Wordle, but with a twist, making it more exciting to play. Simply put, the game will allow you to listen to a few seconds of a popular song, and you have to guess the artist. Like Wordle, Heardle is also a browser-only game, joining the former in being an antithesis to the money-hungry apps of the day.


The game was created by Josh Wardle, the creator of the ultra-popular word game Wordle. After selling Wordle to The New York Times, Wardle created Heardle earlier this year for music enthusiasts. The game is designed to randomly select songs from a large pool of well-known numbers via Soundcloud. The best part is that you can only play the game once a day, which essentially eliminates the chances of addiction.

How to play Heardle?
Music enthusiasts from around the world can access the game from mobile or desktop browsers. Click here to get to the official website of the game.

Once on the website, the game will give you six tries to guess the artist’s name. Before the first try, the game will allow you to listen to the first second of the song. Subsequently, you can listen to additional parts of the song with every try. In all, the game allows you to listen to the first 16 seconds of the song in six tries.

The song for today’s Heardle is a popular rock song from 1977. The song is by a famous rock band of the era and topped the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.
